Project 143: Named For Those We Serve

The 143 Million Crisis

Project One Forty Three, Inc. (P143) is a registered 501(c)(3) organization founded on a staggering, singular statistic: There are over 143 million orphaned children worldwide.

If orphanhood were classified as a disease, it would be the preeminent global pandemic of our time. A population larger than the entire nation of Russia remains stranded in institutions, aging out of foster systems, or surviving on the streets. We took our name from this demographic reality to ensure our focus never wavers from the sheer scale of the crisis.

16 Years of Impact

For over a decade and a half, P143 operated at the forefront of international orphan hosting. We successfully navigated complex international landscapes to build high-impact hosting logistics in Latvia, Ukraine, Kyrgyzstan, Colombia, China, and the Philippines.

Orphan hosting programs

Over the years, we have facilitated programs for more than 3,000 children, bringing them to the United States to experience the unconditional love, security, and cultural exchange of a family. Through these ground-level logistics, countless trajectories were altered, and hundreds of children ultimately found their forever families through adoption.

Our Evolution: Agile Advocacy

The international landscape for orphan care is highly dynamic. Today, we face unprecedented geopolitical conflict and bureaucratic friction that have temporarily made traditional hosting models impractical in our core regions.

Project 143 does not retreat in the face of friction; we adapt. We are currently deploying our 16 years of institutional knowledge into an Agile Advocacy model. We bypass broken bureaucracies by directing capital and logistics straight to the front lines.

Our operations are currently defined by three critical pillars:

  • Targeted Relief (Ukraine): Funding localized, direct-action grants for nutritional security and professional trauma counseling in active conflict zones where government funding has collapsed.
  • HOPE Grants (Future Hosting): Aggressively funding our internal grant program. These reserves are used to subsidize the heavy logistical costs of hosting sibling sets, older children, and children with special needs—ensuring financial barriers never prevent our most vulnerable children from experiencing a family.
  • Strategic Infrastructure: Staging the logistical framework, legal reserves, and international partnerships required to instantly deploy large-scale hosting programs the moment international doors are more practical in regions like Colombia and Latvia.

Our Core Belief Remains Absolute

Whether we are funding a critical supply line in a war zone or preparing a HOPE Grant for a future family, our philosophy has not changed. No government program or institution can replace the foundational security of a family. The cure for the orphan crisis exists. We exist to deliver it. We hope that you will join Project 143 in our fight to combat the global orphan crisis - ONE child at a time. Together, we can make a difference and give these forgotten children the life-changing power of family.
